Preview Sports Content Guidelines

A Note:

We’re going to be clear from the start. We exist for kids. The purpose of our organization is for kids. Parents and Guardians, we’re talking about your kids. We want to come alongside you and help you; to link you with other families who also care about kids. This community is for you.

It’s no secret that youth sports is big business and a mixed bag. People deserve the truth. Kids deserve an opportunity to thrive in a safe environment where they can experience opportunities to play, and learn to play, guided by adults who genuinely care about their development as human beings. Kids deserve the best we can give them.

Youth Sports Providers: Our hope in creating this site is that you will become known to those who are making decisions for young people. We absolutely love to see providers who do what they do with a pure heart because they care about building kids up. For those who are, we hope our site makes you better known; and that more kids will benefit from your work and care.

General Guidelines

Preview Sports allows users to contribute different kinds of content; most importantly, reviews. Truth, respect, and common sense should be common on our site. In case a reminder as to what that looks like is needed, we’ve put together these general guidelines:

Inappropriate content: It should go without saying that there is no need for swearing, threats, harassment, disrespect, or rudeness. We understand you are passionate about your kids. We love that, but please understand that what you write may be read by children. Please speak the truth in a way that does not dishonor yourself.

Conflicts of interest: Your contributions should be unbiased and objective. For example, you shouldn’t write reviews of your own business or employer, your friends’ or relatives’ business, your peers or competitors in your industry, or businesses in your networking group. In order to help the families (and kids) looking for unbiased truth, this is vital.

Promotional content: Unless you’re using your Business Owners Account to add content to your business’s profile page, please do not inundate the site with promotional content. Simply update your space. That will keep noise out, and keep the site useful for families.

Relevance: Please make sure your contributions are relevant and appropriate to the site. For example, reviews aren’t the place for rants about matters that don’t address the heart of your and your child’s experience with the sports provider.

Privacy: Don’t publicize other people’s private information. Please don’t post close-up photos or videos of other people’s children without their permission, and please don’t post other people’s full names unless you’re referring to sports providers who are commonly identified by, or commonly share their own full names.

Be Yourself: Who you are is important to the Preview Sports community. Be yourself. Our community will benefit most when you can share your unique experience and perspective.

Intentions: You should not use removing or posting your review as a way to get something you want (e.g. a free session, or discount) from a provider; that’d be wrong.

Additional Guidelines

Review Guidelines

The best reviews are passionate and personal. They tell a true story, share important details, and sometimes give a helpful tip for other families. Preview Sports was created for you and your kids, and we feel a responsibility to help do our part for young people. We want you to share your valuable experiences; whether good, bad, ugly or somewhere in-between. The effects of your reviews may save a family time and money; or most importantly, lead to a safer and more joyful experience for a child. You have power; share with confidence! And please don’t take that responsibility lightly.

Age of Use: While kids are free to use the site (always with proper supervision) to help their parents find a camp, coach, or club, we limit the writing of reviews to parents and guardians. We do encourage parents to listen to their kids, and even use quotes from them where helpful.

Personal experience: We want to hear about your, and your children’s firsthand experience. Be who you are, be honest, and tell your story. By sharing your experience, you have ability to help families and kids who are looking for it.

Accuracy: Make sure your review is factually correct. Feel free to share your opinions, but don’t exaggerate or misrepresent your experience. We don’t take sides when it comes to factual disputes, so we expect you to stand behind your review.

Review updates: Review updates should reflect a new experience or interaction with the provider. You don’t need to tell a story you’ve already told. If you’d like to add new insight to a past experience, just edit your review instead of creating a new update.

Photo Guidelines: Photos should be relevant to the common consumer experience (e.g., what a field, court, or facility looks like). Feel free to post a photo that showcases a more unique personal experience with a provider (e.g., an action shot, or coaches and kids interactions). A good picture can be very helpful for others looking for the right providers for their children, so please keep in mind the purpose of the site and use your photos to help others.

Sports Providers Guidelines

Sports Providers should be taking advantage of this opportunity, too. Some words of wisdom:

From the Providers: You can tell people a little something special about your business. Please keep it relevant: don’t use this feature to attack your competitors, reviewers, or Preview Sports. Please use this feature for its’ intended purpose – to share pertinent information about your services.

Public Comments: Direct contact is often the best way to resolve a dispute with an unhappy customer, but business owners can also address issues publicly by posting a public reply to a public comment. We do ask that business owners upload a clear photo of themselves to help personalize their message. Please don’t use public comments to launch personal attacks, advertise, or offer an incentive to change a review.

Photos and other media: Photos and other media may be a great way for advertisers to promote themselves on Preview Sports. Be as creative as you’d like, but understand that our site is first and foremost for families. Although our site may benefit you, we are not designed to be a second website for your business. Please use your own website for your in-depth advertising. Also, when posting pictures of kids, it is your responsibility to obtain permission from parents and guardians first; please do so.

Don’t offer to pay for reviews, or give discounts to those who do: Over time, solicited reviews create a bias on your page; a bias that customers can easily identify. You should also never offer compensation, discounts, and/or freebies in exchange for reviews. Again, you may indeed benefit, but this site is designed first off, for families. Deceptive practices will be an obvious black eye for your business. Be the best you can be, and use the honest reviews to improve your services to the young people, and families, you serve!

Removal of reviews: Customers are responsible for their own reviews. We take no responsibility for what is posted by parents or guardians. We are not the judge or the jury here, we are simply providing a space for parents and guardians to help one another. We offer no guarantee of removal of reviews.
